Welcome to the Florida Council for the Social Studies web site. FCSS is a professional organization of Social Studies educators striving to maintain and enhance the importance of Social Studies in Florida education.

The Florida Council for the Social Studies, along with the National Council for the Social Studies, sponsors annual conferences to promote public awareness of Social Studies education. FCSS is a "gold star" affiliate of the National Council for the Social Studies.

In 2012, the FCSS has a renewed emphasis on YOU, the social studies professional.  How can we help you meet your professional goals? An exciting regional conference in Pensacola will be April 28th, while our 55th annual state conference October 26-28th. They are shaping up to be “teacher-fests”, with new ideas to help you bring excitement and relevance to your classroom.  Please join us at our conferences, and in our organization. We welcome your expertise and support. I hope to personally meet you this year!
