Florida History Fair: Awards & Prizes

2006 Winners

Over 700 students participated in the 2006 Florida History Fair held at the campus of Tallahassee Community College in our state’s capital, May 4-6. The following teacher and students received awards at the Florida History Fair state competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 6, 2006.

Teacher of Merit
Marie Rowe
The PATS Center at Brentwood Middle School, Pensacola
Escambia County
Marie Rowe teaches history, social studies, Spanish, science, and law to grades 3 through 8. She has been involved with the Florida History Fair for 10 years.

Mrs. Rowe says she is “sold on the benefits of History Fair” and how it “provides a challenging, hands-on approach to learning valuable research, writing, interviewing, and speaking skills.” Her colleagues, students and parents appreciate how she uses community resources to develop and implement active learning, and how she brings out the best in her students.
