Need Funds For A Special Classroom Project? The Endowment Board is seeking applications for grants to help with that special project, training or scholarship that you have in mind. Applications should reflect the criteria stated in the FCSS website. Projects or lessons that exhibit teacher creativity and student interaction with the content are especially welcomed. Examples of such projects funded in the past include oral history publications, cultural exchange learning centers and interdisciplinary instructional units. Please note that we do not fund the purchase of commercially produced instructional materials or equipment.
Applications are considered on an on-going basis and can now be completed and sent on the web site. Decisions about preliminary applications are made in four to six weeks. If approved, the applicant is then asked to complete a more detailed final application. We currently are considering many requests, but are always happy to receive more! Our goal is to help as many of our members as possible fund worthy projects. For details, click on http://www.fcss.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Endowments.Home
The Board is also very pleased to announce that Donna Genet, a former teacher and supervisor in Dade County, has once again shown her love for social studies through a generous bequest to our fund. We welcome donations of any size to help to continue serving our members and their students. If you wish to contribute, you can contact us through the web site.
Plans are continuing to be made for the FCSS Panhandle Regional Conference that will be held in Tallahassee in 2007. Directors Emeritus Sally Day and Dr. Randy Felton are spearheading this effort. Details will be announced soon.
The FCSS History Project is continuing under the leadership of Director Emeritus Sheila Keller. We are still seeking photographs and other memorabilia from past conferences, social studies publications or personal collections that might have significance for the history of the organization or the social studies in Florida. Please contact us through the web site.
The Endowment Board greatfully acknowledges your support and solicits ideas and suggestions about how we can serve you better.
