Dear Social Studies Professional:
TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Don't miss out on the Florida Council for the Social Studies Golden Anniversary Conference that will be held at the beautiful and new Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, October 11th-13th.
Available spots are filling up fast for the fabulous Pre-Conference workshops being held on the 11th. Go to our website at www.fcss.org to see descriptions of these and over 90 sessions that are being offered on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th. LOTS OF FREE LESSONS AND MATERIALS ARE TO BE HAD!
Come help us honor over 60 Teachers-of-the-Year on Friday evening and enjoy free receptions on both Thursday and Friday evenings. Interested in hearing a great speaker? We have two on that are nationally known on Thursday evening! Come hear the very entertaining KENNETH C. DAVIS, author of Don't Know Much About History and many other great books. Do you like the History and Social Studies Alive! materials? Come hear the man who started it all, BERT BOWER, founder and CEO of the Teacher's Curriculum Institute and the author of many of the materials used by thousands of teachers every day.
Speaking of materials, don't forget that over 50 exhibitors will be there to share the latest. TAKE HOME SOME SAMPLES!
There will also be many special events to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the first state-wide social conference in Florida, including the presentation of a grant to Florida State University's Social Studies Education Department (the birthplace of FCSS), guest speakers Gayle Thieman, NCSS President and Susan Griffin, NCSS Executive Director, a silent auction to benefit the FCSS Endowment Fund (and ultimately educators like you and their students!) and the unveiling of our book about the history of FCSS and social studies education in Florida.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Don't miss the SEPTEMBER 15TH DEADLINE for the early bird conference registration rate. Also, hotel rooms are filling up fast. The last day that we can guarantee a room is SEPTEMBER 17th.
Visit www.fcss.org today for additional information and registration forms.
