Return to FCSS 50th Anniversary Conference in October Home
DISTRICT REPORTS
District 1—Bay, Escambia, Holmes, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton, Washington
Teachers from the District I area now have the opportunity to belong to a local social studies chapter! After many months of preparation and advice from FCSS Board members on how to create a local chapter, we had an organizational meeting beginning during the fall in-service for Escambia County teachers. The local council membership is open to both active and retired teachers as well as full time Florida Virtual teachers. Teachers were very receptive to a local social studies council known as the Escambia Area Council for Social Studies with approximately forty plus members joining the local council.
Interested persons may contact the EACSS President, Cherie Arnette, carnette@escambia.k12.fl.us

This will me a memorable year for FCSS! Our large District 2, which has twenty counties, is scheduled to be divided into two districts; that will open a new space on the FCSS board and improve our representation for this area of Florida. I hope you have a great school year, and as always, I wish you the best.

District 5-- Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Levy, Marion, Pasco, Sumter
Your District 5 “411”
Welcome back to school Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Levy, Marion, Pasco, and Sumter County teachers!!
With the school year starting, social studies educators face the opportunity and challenge to show how our curriculum permits students to unlock the legacy of intellectual curiosity and personal exploration. Along this journey we motivate students to engage mind and spirit, inspire them to yearn for a better tomorrow, and reveal methods and tactics for realizing these goals. Our reward is knowing that we have made a difference in each child’s life, in our communities, and our world. May all your endeavors be blessed in this upcoming year.
