Make your plans now to attend the 51st Annual Florida Council for the Social Studies Conference to be from October 23 -26, 2008 at the recently renovated Hilton Bayfront in the heart of St. Petersburg’s revitalized waterfront district.

This year’s conference features pre-conference workshops on Friday, October 24 with over 80 breakout sessions conducted all day Saturday and Sunday morning.  We’re hoping this new schedule benefits those who have had problems attending recent conferences due to school being in session on the conference’s main meeting day.

Be prepared to load up on samples from the more than 40 exhibitors in attendance and plan to enjoy free receptions and breakfasts! The silent auction is back, and the popular door prize drawings will be held on Saturday and Sunday. As always, we will also honor social studies teachers and community leaders from across the state.

Enjoy the reasonable room rate of $110 for a single or double, and parking is free for hotel guests.  Check out the hotel site at    www.stpetersburg.hilton.com

and continue to check the FCSS web site at www.fcss.com for registration information and updated news!
